**On Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in honour of Mother's Day, the Toronto Star taste tested pickles and ice cream.  They tried several brands of pickles and vanilla ice cream to help satisfy the cravings of mom's-to-be (although they did not recommend eating them together).  Here are the ratings and comments from their five Star panelists.

Nice crunchy texture but too much vinegar taste Yech! Tastes nothing like dill Crunchy outside and soft and chewy inside Sweet for a dill.  More like a bread and butter pickle. Crunchy and good.  Love the spice
Tasty.  Great pickle colour and not mushy. Something's undefineably bad here Tastes more like a cucumber than a pickle Finally, some flavour.  Great crunch and the right amount of sour kick. Strong garlic taste.  A bit overpowering
Crisp with quite a strong dill flavour Worst dill I've ever tasted - and I know my dills No dill flavour Nice crunchy texture but not enough garlic taste Garlicky, another winner.
